I'm a wine nut. Give me the towns most known for their wine.
Wines come by region, not by town. That being said, we have towns in 7 of France’s
9 official wine regions.
- Bordeaux
- Saint-Emilion
- Saint Cyprien is in the Dordogne region, whose wines, such as Cotes de Bergerac are close in style to those of Bordeaux
- Languedoc -Roussilon
- Alsace
- Burgundy
- Loire Valley
- Provence
- Rhone Valley
- Lyon
- Nimes
- Uzes
- Other Noteworthy Wine Regions
- Macon and Montbard are in the Burgundy region but not strictly considered in the Burgundy wine region. This region is called Maconnais, and produces a white Burgundy chardonnay considered to be an excellent wine.
- La Rochelle is in the regions where Haut Poitou and Charente-Maritime wines are produced. While not one of the classic wine regions of France, these wines are also highly reviewed.
