Uzes is not perfect, but for me, as a painter, it has everything I need. Most people who have chosen Uzes say that they knew "this was it" the minute they walked into the main square, Places aux Herbes. It is pretty much the epitome of the dream of France. (I still miss the fact that there's no train, and the bus schedule is built for commuters and students, which means no fashionably late dinners with friends outside of town ...as you have no way home.
