A Life in France™ Cancellation, Terms and Conditions
*IMPORTANT – Please Read: The Risks & Rewards of the A Life in France™ program below.
(By returning this Booking Form, you acknowledge reading this section.)
The A Life in France™ program is real life. It comes with positive and negative experiences, often with exhilaration, sometimes even with life-changing epiphanies. But sickness, accidents, crummy weather, and other disappointments also can happen. A Life in France™ does not operate the airlines, the car rental companies, the railways, or the restaurants. Weather, pestilence, the economy, or international politics are not under our control. If you have a health problem or an accident, we will do what we can to help. We are not responsible for the costs of health problems, accidents, strikes, riots, terrorism, war, epidemics or pandemics, or your urgent need to return home early for any reason. If you need help while traveling overseas, just as in the USA or wherever you call home – be prepared that most of that help will come from existing institutions and cost something.
Our program contents will offer you optional activities for approximately 20 - 30% of your time. We have described some of those options, but also have communicated to you that a significant portion of the activities will be adjusted and tailored to the interests expressed by the individuals in the cohort, including you. One of the main resources of this program are the rich opportunities for community but those opportunities depend on your active and proactive efforts. One of the key skills we hope you will gain is operating independently, should you choose a longer-term life in France. That means we will expect that many of the activities you end up participating, during this month, will have been made available by the connections to people the program introduced you to, but will also require effort and initiative on your part to further deepen the connections.
We strongly recommend you consider purchasing travel insurance to cover the costs of trip interruption and cancellations, as well as health problems & accidents that may occur while you are traveling. We will counsel you generally about travel insurance if you ask us, but otherwise, we will not be a party to your insurance purchase or policy.
If you choose not to purchase travel insurance, you — not A Life in France™— are taking on the risks that come with independent travel, including potentially costly cancellations, interruptions, delays, loss of luggage, and health problems and accidents. We believe you should be free to purchase insurance or not. When we buy our travel insurance for our travel we often look at Allianz or Insuremytrip.com, but we have no financial relationship with any travel insurance company. We seriously consider taking the 'cancel for any reason' option when we travel, which is often about 30% higher in cost than without that option. But – and this is the crux of the decision – by not buying travel insurance, you are taking the risks on yourselves.
I, the undersigned, will not hold A Life in France™ and/or its agents responsible for any expenses incurred by me resulting from the cancellation, loss, or interruption of my trip due to accident, sickness, stolen or damaged baggage, car rental, public transportation, or airline delay, strike or change of equipment, or change of mind (it happens).
PLEASE, purchase trip insurance.
